The BISD Transportation Department is a service department that provides school bus transportation for students who live two miles or more from their assigned school. This distance is measured using the shortest route on public roads. Transportation services are also provided to students who participate in vocational programs or classes that are not available at their home school and for special needs students who qualify through the ARD process.
All transportation services are provided by GoldStar Transit, a nationally recognized leader in student transportation and part of the Student Transportation of America family of companies. GoldStar is focused solely on partnering with schools across Texas and North America to ensure that students arrive Safe, On-Time and Ready to Learn.
Students wishing to get off at a different stop or ride a bus other than their assigned one must submit a written request to the campus office. All requests must be approved by an administrator. Ineligible or guest riders who are discovered will be removed from the bus and parents/guardians will be notified immediately. Students caught fighting or carrying weapons on the bus will have their bus privileges immediately suspended and/or revoked.
To keep buses running on schedule, it is important that students are at their assigned bus stops at least five minutes prior to their scheduled pick-up time. This is especially important during inclement weather. Parents and guardians are encouraged to use the free, all-in-one app Stopfinder (Open external link in new tab) to see your student’s bus information, create GeoAlerts, and communicate directly with the BISD Transportation department.
