Frankford Transportation Center is one of the largest and most active transit hubs in Philadelphia’s Northeast. It’s the first stop for commuters to work in Center City, and also serves as a convenient location for local shoppers. In addition to providing quick access to the city’s top restaurants and shopping, Frankford Transportation Center is home to one of the only two SEPTA farmers’ markets in the Northeast region.

Located adjacent to the busy Bridge-Pratt SEPTA station, this popular market is open Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m – 4:00 p.m. The market features fresh, local produce and an assortment of other food items.

Often considered an underrated asset for Philadelphia’s economy, the SEPTA system is well-loved by locals for its convenience and affordability. But it’s not without its challenges. With an increasing population and aging infrastructure, SEPTA is constantly looking for ways to improve the quality of service while keeping costs down.

In 2011, a partnership with the city and a public/private venture led to the creation of a new multimodal terminal at Frankford Transportation Center that was designed to accommodate growth for decades to come. SEPTA commissioned the design-build team of Jacobs Engineering and Parsons Brinckerhoff to create an attractive, efficient and comfortable facility with climate-controlled waiting areas, four levels of parking and historic preservation of the original bridge street terminal building.

As Program Manager for the project, Urban remained in close contact with SEPTA’s Capital and Operations Departments, the designer, contractors, community and commuters throughout construction to ensure the facility was constructed while maintaining accessibility and service. As a result, the new Terminal at Frankford Transportation Center opened on time and met its original cost goals.
