How to Keep Birds From Pooping on Your Car

November 17, 2023

Whether it’s a new car, an old car or a classic car, there is nothing more frustrating than finding your freshly washed or painted vehicle covered in bird droppings. Bird poop is very acidic and can damage the paint on your car.

You can remove the majority of the poop by spraying your car with a water hose or bucket of soapy water and then wiping it off. There are also cleaning solutions such as WD-40 or vinegar that can be used to break down the uric acid in the poop and make it easier to wipe off your car. They can be applied to the poop, left to sit for a few minutes and then wiped off with a cloth. There are also car wipes that are specifically designed to remove bird poop without damaging your paint.

Another way to keep birds from pooping on your car is to park in your garage or a car porch whenever possible. If you don’t have a garage, try to park your car away from any overhangs, tree branches or power lines that can be used as perching spots. It’s also a good idea to park away from areas where there are a lot of other cars and people.

You can also deter birds by mounting bird deterrents such as coyote, owl or fox decoys on your car. Once the birds see these decoys, they will be scared off and will avoid your car.
