It can be frustrating when it seems that the car seat straps are too tight, but there's no way to tighten them any more. Thankfully, most Evenflo models are equipped with harness adjuster mechanisms. These are often located on the back of the seat, looking like black boxes with a button type part. Press the harness adjuster release button to loosen the straps and pull them back to re-tighten. Generally, you want to make sure that the shoulder harness slots are at or above your child's shoulders (see below).
In some cases it may be necessary to move the harness up through the seat to do this. The best way to know how to do this for your specific model is by checking the user manual.
It's also important to make sure that the shoulder strap is even. If it's dipping below the child's shoulders, it can cause them to become very uncomfortable and may allow their body to slide down in the seat, potentially leading to strangulation. In addition, if the shoulder strap is below the child's shoulders, crash forces will be spread over a larger area, which can increase injuries.
