How to Loosen Straps on Britax Car Seat

March 14, 2024

The Boulevard CS is a convertible car seat that can be used rear facing for infants and toddlers or forward facing for children up to 65 pounds. It uses Britax's patented ClickTight system for installation and provides advanced side impact protection.

The no-rethread harness height adjuster makes it easy to loosen or tighten the shoulder straps without having to detach and reattach the seat. A good test to determine if the harness is properly adjusted is to pinch one of the shoulder straps at collar bone level. If you can pinch the straps, they're too loose and should be loosened or tightened.

Unlike some older Britax models, the Boulevard CS has separate tongues for each side of the fairly standard buckle system which gives a nice click when inserting. This helps reduce the force on the child's neck in a crash and allows for the chest clip to be positioned at armpit level. The two-piece chest clip is easy to use and has pads on each side that help reduce forces in a crash.

A rear-facing belt lockoff is built into the bottom of the Boulevard CS which can be used with older vehicles that don't have built in seatbelt lock offs to allow for proper child seat installation. It also has a top tether anchor which can be used in conjunction with the vehicle seatbelt or the patented Britax versa-tether to further reduce head excursion in a crash and the likelihood of injury. The manual shows how to properly install the tether and it can be used rear or front-facing.
