Car seats and ISOFIX bases make travelling with your little one safe and easy. However, when you need to remove your child’s car seat from its base, it can seem daunting at first. This is why we’ve created this article to guide you through the process, from start to finish.
Before you start, please ensure that your vehicle is stationary and that you have referred to your car seat manual. It’s also worth double-checking that your child is safely out of the seat and that the harness straps aren’t twisted.
Locate the release handle or lever button, typically located at the back of your car seat. Press or pull the handle with one hand, and with your other hand, gently lift the car seat from its base. Be sure to keep a tight grip on the seat while lifting it.
You should hear and feel a click as the car seat releases from the base. Once the car seat is completely detached from its base, you can remove it from your stroller frame and stow it in a safe place for later use.
If you have a problem releasing your Graco car seat from its base, it may be because the release buttons aren’t pressed correctly. You may need to press the button harder while pulling up on the seat at the same time. Alternatively, the Isofix connectors may have become bent and are preventing the release mechanism from working properly. If this is the case, try shifting the car seat over to the other side of the Isofix fixing points.
