MF DOOM fans were left unhappy after the 63rd Grammy Awards failed to capitalize his name in the 'In Memoriam' segment of last night's show. The rapper and producer's name wasn't stylised in all caps, despite him clearly asking for it to be so on Madvillain's 2004 song All Caps.
In the song, the narrator describes how he's an unstoppable force in the hip-hop game and is always one step ahead of his opponents. He also makes a point to remind everyone that "just remember all caps when you spell the man's name."
On February 10, 2021, Stones Throw Records released a visually remastered version of the comic strip-style video for the song. The video originally lived as a'mov' file on the label's website and an 'Enhanced CD' edition of the album, but has now made it to YouTube.
The song and visual have been a hit with DOOM fans, with some even starting a petition to rename a street in his native Long Beach after the late MC. Others are selling exclusive augmented reality NFT masks in his honour.
