Plaza Las Americas - The Largest Shopping Center in the Caribbean

June 15, 2023

Shopping might not be everyone's idea of a fun vacation, but if you do need something to keep you busy or the weather isn't cooperating, Plaza Las Americas is one of the largest malls in the Caribbean. This large and well-stocked mall offers a huge variety of stores as well as a multiscreen movie theater and Galaxy Lanes, a large bowling alley.

The plaza las americas mall was opened in 1968 as Puerto Rico's first enclosed shopping center. Since then it has grown and expanded three times.

Today it is a major shopping destination for many Puerto Ricans and the largest in the Caribbean. Some of the major tenants of the plaza las americas mall include Radio Shack and Puma, which are among the busiest and highest grossing stores in the world. The plaza also houses the only JCPenney department store in the island. Besides these large stores, the plaza las americas mall is home to over 200 other shops and restaurants.

Plaza las americas is located in the Hato Rey district of San Juan. It is close to the Roberto Clemente Coliseum, Hiram Bithorn Stadium and WKAQ-TV's studios.

Plaza las americas mall is a popular shopping spot for tourists because it is filled with many of the same stores that they can find in the states, such as Applebee's, Chili's and PF Chang's. In addition to the American merchandize, the plaza las americas has a great mix of local Puerto Rican merchandise as well. The plaza also hosts events throughout the year including car shows, local musicians and large artisan fairs.
