Surge Transportation is a digital freight brokerage specializing in short lead-time, peak season, promotions, gaps, spikes, overflow and auction with 24/7 response time for anything moving over the road on land. Backed by 50,000+ carrier partners, we offer real-time capacity with 100% tender accept, allowing large shippers to meet and exceed their visibility KPIs while reducing check calls, improving operational efficiencies and expanding their customer base without increasing overhead.
To do this, Surge needed a versatile, real-time digital load tracking solution that would help them meet and even surpass their shipper visibility compliance rates while providing a simpler, streamlined technology experience for their employees and carriers. This led them to Trucker Tools’ visibility platform, which is integrated into Surge’s McLeod TMS.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Jacksonville, Florida-based company reportedly hired Chicago-based M&A firm to find a buyer and slashed its rates and workforce. But the M&A deal failed to materialize, and in a filing with U.S. Bankruptcy Court on Monday, the freight broker said it had hired Dallas-based Triumph to factor its receivables while it sought bankruptcy protection. The freight broker also cited “irreconcilable differences” with its carrier partners, according to a report by FreightWaves. The company has a lot of debt, and is already struggling to pay its carrier claims. But it has a plan to return to profitability.
