If you are planning to visit Eagle Pass, Texas, there are several things to do in the area. From visiting a museum to enjoying a meal, there is something for everyone!

One of the most popular things to do in Eagle Pass is golfing at the 18-hole Eagle Pass Golf Course. This course is located on the banks of the Rio Grande and offers stunning views.

Fort Duncan Museum

The Fort Duncan Museum, inside Eagle Pass' beautiful greenspaces, commemorates the importance of the military presence in the creation of this city. It is located inside the restored compound's headquarters building, and is a truly welcoming site for visitors.

The fort was established on the Texas border in 1849, just across the Rio Grande from Piedras Negras, Coahuila de Zaragoza, Mexico. It was a crossing point for trappers, traders, and frontiersmen.

Originally called El Paso de Aguila, the settlement was laid out opposite the mouth of the Mexican Rio Escondido and beside an old smuggler's trail. As Anglo settlers arrived, the name changed to Eagle Pass.

The military post was a major supply center during the War Between the States. Its proximity to the Camino Real - the main north-south route between Mexico and Texas for 200 years - allowed trade to flourish.

Eagle Pass Public Library

The Eagle Pass Public Library is one of the many perks of living in the Maverick County smack dab in the middle of Texas el dorado. The city boasts a population of just under 8,000 residents, but it’s hardly a sleepy town by Texas standards. Aside from the obvious mainstays, it also houses the state’s only art museum as well as several non-profit arts and entertainment groups. On the business front, a few of these organizations have a hand in the city’s burgeoning economy. Several of them have been in business for more than 10 years. A few are still going strong, while others have sadly succumbed to the economic shears of the past.
