Newberg is known as Oregon’s Wine Country, but it also has a lot more to offer. Visit the historical Cameo Theatre or 99W Drive-In Movie Theatre to enjoy a show, or visit Vista Balloon Adventures to take in views of Oregon’s vineyards and mountains.

You can also indulge your senses with a meal at Painted Lady Restaurant, which is located in a historic Victorian house in the heart of Newberg’s downtown area. Chef Allen Routt uses only the freshest ingredients to create dishes that showcase local flavors and produce.

In addition to a five or eight-course set tasting menu, Painted Lady Restaurant also serves local Willamette Valley wines. You can book your meal in advance to ensure a seat at this fine dining establishment.

Roco Winery

A short drive from Newberg, Roco Winery offers a variety of activities and attractions for visitors to enjoy. It is a popular winery that produces Pinot Noir and Methode Champenoise sparkling wines.

This family-owned vineyard and winery has an impressive portfolio of reds, whites and rosés. It also offers tours and tastings.

The tastings at the winery come in a range of options, including the Signature Flight and Premier Flight. Each comes with a variety of wines to choose from, including expressive bottles of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

You can even opt for a special tasting of Rose expressions from various vintages. The staff will offer you tasty bites to accompany your tasting.

Champoeg State Heritage Area

Set on the banks of the Willamette River, Champoeg State Heritage Area is a place rich in history and recreation opportunities. Its acreage of forest, fields and wetlands recreate the landscape of a bygone era.

Tour the park's visitor center, Newell House, and Pioneer Mother's Log Cabin museums to learn about pioneer life at Champoeg. Or take a guided walk to learn what happened to the bustling pioneer town of Champoeg, or how the Donald Manson Barn was built.

Campgrounds, yurts, cabins and group RV sites with a meeting hall are available year-round. The campground includes a courtesy boat and fishing dock, and a picnic area and pavilion.

The area's unique combination of history and nature makes it a great destination for an overnight or weekend getaway. Several attractions are within easy reach of the campground, including historic Butteville Store, the Newell Pioneer Village, and Lady Hill Winery.

Little Lavender Farm

Lavender lovers will find plenty to do and see along Newberg's lavender trail, a quaint little town that sits just under an hour south of Portland. Start out at Wayward Winds Lavender Farm, a stunning U-Pick farm that allows guests to wander through rows of fragrant Angustifolia (English) lavender and Intermedia varieties like Provence, Maillette and Folgate.

Then, stop by their open-air store to pick up lavender-scented bath and body products, edibles, simple syrups and award-winning essential oils. Or, swing by their drive-through coffee shop to get a freshly baked lavender-rosemary scone or add housemade lavender-rosemary syrup to an iced latte or lemonade.

Or, for a more active pursuit, head to Chehalem Flats Lavender Farm, a breathtaking u-pick farm that also offers figs later in July. Frolic through the lavender fields, enjoy yoga and take part in wreath-making classes.
