As every traveler knows, one of the most important elements of a vacation is the hotel you stay in. The comfort of your hotel room often makes or breaks a trip, so it's not surprising that countries build countless hotels for their visitors to stay in. But what cities worldwide have the most hotel rooms? In a new study, travel site Insider Monkey examined the top 10 cities that have the most hotel rooms worldwide.
The top city in the world for hotel rooms is Shanghai, China. The Chinese city has more than 100,000 hotel rooms, and it's home to luxury hotels such as The Ritz-Carlton, Dorchester and The Savoy, all of which have Michelin-starred restaurants and opulent suites that are the height of luxury.
London is another popular destination for tourists, and it's also home to a number of famous luxury hotels such as The Plaza, The Waldorf Astoria and the recently opened Raffles London. And even though the UK is a smaller country than the US, it still folds more than 39,000 hotel rooms into its borders.
Other famous destinations for travelers to flock to include Las Vegas, which has more hotel rooms than any other city in the world, and New York City. Known as 'The City That Never Sleeps,' the city is home to iconic hotels like The Plaza and Waldorf Astoria, but it also has a number of more affordable options like the Viceroy Chicago.
