What Is a Cammed Car?

A cammed car is a vehicle that has been modified to have a camshaft that is designed for high-end performance. This upgrade can make the engine much faster, and can also increase its fuel economy.

Camming the engine is a way to alter its valve opening time so that it produces more power. This can be done by adjusting the timing of the valves, installing different camshafts, changing the valve springs, and using a variety of other upgrades.

The biggest advantage of camming a vehicle is that it increases the amount of air and fuel mixture that can get to each cylinder. This leads to a significant boost in horsepower and other performance-related gains, such as increased torque and higher rev limits.

But it can be a tricky upgrade, and requires the skills of experts. Depending on the vehicle, it can be expensive to install.

Unlike normal overhead-valve engines (OHV), where the camshaft rotates directly on the valves, a cammed engine will use rocker arms and springs to open and close the valves as the cam rotates. This type of engine can be found in pickup trucks, SUVs, and other vehicles that have a V-type engine design.

Cammed cars can have a lot of advantages, but they can also be a nightmare to drive. They can idle rough, have a lope sound while driving, and produce a very low vacuum signal, which means they won’t run efficiently at low rpms.
