Over the course of seven seasons, we’ve seen Patrick Jane drive a variety of cars. Each one reflects some aspect of the quick-witted crime-solver’s personality. However, since the end of season 6, his primary vehicle has been a Citroen DS 21 Pallas.
The French automaker is known for human-centered design—a perfect match for Jane’s ability to read people and predict their behavior. The car is efficient, wind-resistant, and built for motion. Its shape is also reminiscent of an airplane, which makes it a no-brainer for Jane to use on the road.
According to Dave Koz, a classic car dealer, the DS is a popular model among buyers because it “looks like a modern car but drives like an old one.” In addition, its value is rising thanks to its popularity on TV shows and movies. The car has also garnered numerous awards and accolades throughout its life, including being named the Car of the Century in 1999.
Patrick Jane is a master of observation, deduction, and induction. He drinks tea in nearly every episode and has what he calls “x-ray eyes.” He is adept at technology, but prefers using his wits. He doesn’t like doctors, seeing them as cold and inhuman, and he often believes that he is the smartest person in the room.
In the season 6 finale, he tracks down Red John through a clever gambit that exploits his fear of birds. After he kills the criminal, he opens up to Lisbon about his feelings and they kiss.
