The DC universe has a lot of different cities, from the gritty Gotham to Superman’s bustling Metropolis. These iconic settings appear in a wide variety of films, television shows, and comic books. They are all part of a shared universe that DC Comics calls the DC Multiverse.
The most famous city is probably Metropolis, which has starred in both the CW’s Arrow series and the blockbuster movies Batman v Superman and Justice League. The superheroes of the Flash, Wonder Woman, and Aquaman also call this place home. But what about the rest of the DC Universe’s urban locations? Here are the most recognizable cities in the DC Universe.
Gotham City is the hometown of Batman and his rogue gallery. The setting has appeared in numerous movies and TV shows including the upcoming Birds of Prey, Suicide Squad, and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
Central City is the home of the Flash and his ally Iris West. It has been seen in both the CW’s Arrow spin-off series The Flash and in the upcoming season of Supergirl. The 2014 TV series placed it in Missouri (although the show’s opening scenes suggest Portland, Oregon) while the 2017 comic book event DC: Rebirth paired it with Keystone City which exists across the river in Kansas.
Coast City is the DC version of Los Angeles or San Francisco. The Western city has been the home of both Black Canary and Speedy, as well as villains like Gorilla Grodd and Captain Cold. In the future, it could be the new home of the Green Lantern Hal Jordan.
