When you are looking for a place to watch a game and have some good food, you should check out the Choctaw Stadium. It is a multi-use sports and entertainment venue that was home to the Texas Rangers until they moved across the street to Globe Life Field in 2019. This unique complex also features four-story office building within the ballpark, a 12-acre lake, parks and recreation space on its perimeter.
The stadium is known for combining state-of-the-art amenities with a respect for the grand tradition of America’s favorite pastime. It has a granite and brick facade, a home run porch in right field, and an asymmetrical playing field made of a lush Tifway 419 turf. It was the first ballpark to feature a retractable roof. It also hosts events outside of MLB games, including concerts and high school and college football and soccer matches.
A new naming rights partnership between the Rangers and Choctaw Casinos & Resorts will see the former Globe Life Park renamed as Choctaw Stadium in the coming years. The stadium will continue to host a range of sporting events, including high school and professional soccer, and Major League Rugby expansion team Dallas Jackals beginning in 2022.
There are over 100 fixed and mobile concession stands at Choctaw Stadium to enjoy some snacks and drinks. The menu options are wide ranging, from the traditional hotdog and beer to chicken-fried bacon on a stick or fried S’mores with cream cookies. You can even try the fabled Broomstick, a 2-foot long hotdog smothered in chili, cheese and jalapeno.
