If you’re a fan of the show, then it’s no secret that Dark Shadows is known for its amazing sets and mind-bending storylines. But did you know that most of the series’ principal photography was shot in Berlin and Brandenburg?
In the UK, a new police drama called In The Dark has already galvanised an audience with a gripping crime storyline. The show stars MyAnna Buring as Detective Helen Weeks who is faced with a case that could have serious consequences for her and her unborn child.
The gripping four-part series reportedly takes place in Marsden, West Yorkshire (about seven miles west of Huddersfield). According to the Huddersfield Daily Examiner, the show’s location is set in a rural village near to Marsden Moor, which lies between historic trans-Pennine routes and offers spectacular scenery.
Whether you’re a long-time fan of the show or you haven’t seen a single episode, you’ve probably heard of the Lyndhurst Mansion in Tarrytown, New York. It’s the estate where many of the Dark Shadows films were filmed.
However, you may not know that the greenhouse on this property is actually open for visitors. It’s located within the grounds of the estate and was used as the filming location for the greenhouse scene where Alex sees a shadow inside.
Another famous scene from the show was filmed at Windcliff Sanitarium in Lewisham, South London. This park is now a golf course and historic park so you can go for a walk there to see where this filming location was shot.
